Brother Ronald Gallagher often thinks of Saint Jean Baptist de la Salle, and the "daily challenges" he faced while setting up a network of schools. In some ways, Gallagher can relate.

On March 3, he gave his annual State of the College address at LeFevre Theatre, where he discussed the challenges the College is facing today and how it is coping.

We often hear about crimes in our communities and elsewhere, and students on our own campus have undoubtedly seen Public Safety driving around, ready to break up parties or respond to various alarms.

Many may wonder how many policy violations actually occur in a given semester.

If you've seen the movie Wall-E, then you may remember that in it the people from the future are so overweight that they must be suspended by floating lounge chairs in order to move around. Sure, it might just be an ominous environmental and political allegory of what may happen if people don't change their ways, but deep down, we know it's not too far from the truth.

February is Black History Month, what is supposed to be a celebration of African-American history. This was not the case for Black History Month 2010 at University of California, San Diego. That month there was a noose found in the UCSD library. In addition, anti-homosexual messages were written on the LGBT Resource center, and an off-campus "Compton Cook-out" was held, where party-goers were encouraged to dress in a "ghetto-stereotype" style with "nappy" hair that same February.

It is at this precise moment when you wonder: Where do I look? If I turn my head and look directly at the speaker it feels awkward.

Stop putting me in a box- Really, I mean it. It's okay not to know every aspect of my identity, and it's alright for me not to feel compelled to tell you. Our society has become so concerned with the sexual habits of one another, and trying to explain those habits, that we have forgotten to simply let people be- to just exist.

Alice has returned to the big screen, not as a seven year old innocent girl, but as a 19-year old woman in bloom. Disgruntled with Victorian life and its restraints on women, she tumbles down the rabbit hole into Wonderland (now called Underland) on a journey of self discovery.

Plastic Beach, prepare to be flooded

The album opens with a warm wash of oceanic strings, before hitting a shore of hard, dissonant brass notes. Then the beat drops into the hands of Plastic Beach's first celebrity inhabitant. Snoop Dogg greets us like a guard dog pacing back and forth on the island's perimeter, while Albarn's distorted voice hovers above like a melodic air raid siren.
