Four years gone so quickly

Four years.

That's a pretty cliché way to start my last column, but that's pretty much what's going through my head right now.

Four years. Where did it go?

Sexual assault, living wage, football dropped, basketball soars, Gatehouse scandal, new college president.

We've gone though a lot, haven't we?

I'll leave the final words to Jo-Ann for next week's last issue (which will feature a surprise we're all very excited about). Right now though, it's my turn to get a few last words out.

First of all, there's something I need to say. What is the deal with all the slow-walking gossipers? We've all seen them; Saint Mary's is full of them. The culprits are usually four to five girls in mini-skirts and Ugg boots (sometimes three can get the job done) who trap you in the hallways as they walk in a horizontal line excruciatingly slowly down the hall, chatting away about who knows what. You're late to getting where you need to be, but you can't pass because they're taking up the entire hallway and are oblivious to the fact that people are behind them. This needs to stop.

Okay.

I'm glad I've gotten that off of my chest. That's been bothering me for four years.

Honestly, I've had an amazing time here. I can't imagine having gone to school anywhere else, or at least have grown more and learned more anywhere else. This school's given a lot to me, and I hope that I've at least made enough of an impact that I was able to give a little bit back.

I guess because I love this place so much it bothers me to hear people complain about it all the time. The food isn't good. The Internet is slow. This classroom doesn't have air conditioning. And so forth.

Of course Saint Mary's has its problems. What school doesn't? The problem is so many students are so often blinded by the little things that bother them that they don't realize what they're getting here.

Maybe that's why most students never bother to read Seminar texts. Maybe it's why the majority of campus involvement is done by a small minority of people.
