The Saint Mary's softball team may be struggling this year, but that doesn't mean their players don't have personality. One such player is senior Justine Larsen. This bubbly shortstop/pitcher from Chico, CA took some time out of her busy schedule to sit down with The Collegian and share her thoughts on some of our quirky questions.
Do you name your sports equipment?
Yes. I had a bat that was named The Black Stallion. Now my bat is called The Caddy.
Best Halloween costume:
Probably the best one was when my friend and I went as The Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin and his wife Terri. I love him. There was a rumor going around that he died and when I heard it I started crying.
Worst pick-up line you've ever heard:
One year for Halloween I was dressed as a devil and a guy said to me, "If you're the devil then take me to Hell." He was homeless. He wasn't dressed up or anything, he really was homeless.
Have you ever run from the cops?
Yes. But they weren't just chasing me. I hopped a fence and got away.
How many times does your alarm clock have to go off before you get up?
I don't like to wake up. It takes a good 45 minutes to get me going in the morning.
If you could be on any game show, which would it be?
Remember that show Guts on Nickelodeon? All the contestants would compete in different athletic challenges and then in the end they climb the Agrocrag. I would have won. For three straight birthdays I asked to be on that show, but I never made it.
If you had to go into the Witness Protection Program, what would your new identity be?
I'd pick something mellow and low-key. Like an interior designer on a tropical island.
Favorite holiday:
I like any holiday, but my favorite is probably Thanksgiving. We always have it at my Grandma's house and the whole family goes out afterwards and does Wild Turkey shots.
How many days do you wear your jeans before washing?
Probably twice. I don't know, I wear sweats. I don't ever wear jeans.
How many piercings do you have?
Eleven.
How old were you when you got your first two-piece swimsuit?
Probably when I was really little…but not again until middle school. Back then everyone wore the one piece Speedo racing suits.
Worst trend you were ever a part of:
I had permed bangs with straight hair and I teased them into a feather-like fashion. Bottom line: It was not cute.
If you could go on a date with any celebrity, who would it be?
Ben Stiller because I'm just obsessed. I love Heavyweights. Tony Perkis forever.
If you could have any animal for a pet, what would you choose?
I already have it. It's a little Yorkie. We have two, Ranger and Cooper. The littlest one is not even two pounds. He's so cute.
Favorite ninja turtle:
Michaelangelo. He was the surfer dude. I liked the way he talked.
Jackie Chan or Chuck Norris:
Chuck Norris, definitely.
