Softball continued on their perpetual nosedive that is their season. This past week they dropped six games to Sacramento State and the University of Hawaii.

In their first doubleheader of the week against the Rainbow Warriors, the Gaels lost both caps of the double-header in decisive margins of 10-3 and 10-1.

The Gaels would strike first in game one as the Gaels posted a three-run second inning, which was capped off by a two-run double by sophomore Bronwyn Russell. She went 1-2 in game one. The Rainbow Wahine came back quickly and scored four runs in the top of the third. Hawaii sophomore Brandi Peiler would hit one of her two home runs on the day in the inning. Hawaii would post up five more runs in the fifth inning, which was led by a three-run home run by Hawaii's Valana Manuma.

Gael sophomore starting pitcher Chelsea Loftis would last four innings allowing five runs on 10 hits and walking one.

In the second game against Hawaii, the Gaels would be held scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning, making the score 7-1. The Rainbow Wahine would add three more to take the game 10-1.

Senior Marcia-Marie Euker paced the Gaels going two for three in the game. Russell added another hit for the Gaels. Starting pitcher Lauren Gardner went 2.2 innings allowing four earned runs.

The Gaels looked to improve on their performance against Sacramento State, but the Hornets stopped the Gaels in their tracks. In game one of the Saturday double-header, the Gaels would only last five innings as the Hornets would post four runs in the first inning, 10 in the second, and another in the third to take the game 15-0.

Loftis would be credited with the loss (2-14) allowing eight earned runs in only an inning and a third. The Gaels would commit six errors in their five innings of play, including three in the first.

The Gaels would show life in the second game but come up short 3-2. The Gaels would score both of their runs in the seventh. Sophomore Sandra Ruezga and Lauren Mello would pick up the RBI's.

The Gaels would fall victim to the Hornets again by the scores of 11-1 and 4-0.

With the losses, the Gaels fall to 5-45 and 1-15 in PCSC play. The Gaels will look to rebound against Santa Clara this weekend.
