Welcome back fans and critics to another year of The Collegian. Being the voice of the Saint Mary's campus, The Collegian staff would like to invite you to write. This does not necessarily mean only write for us, but also write to us.
This space is for your letters. We at The Collegian want to hear all your perspectives and all your suggestions. It could be fan mail, telling us how much you love a certain writer and that you want to see more of their work. It could be constructive criticism of things that we could do better. You could also send us your angry mail. Tell us about a writer who just makes you so mad, you just had to write in and tell us.
If you impress us with a letter, we just may make you a member of the staff; it happened last year with one person. He became one our best writers and he, in turn, received a number of letters himself. This is your forum and we want you to share your voice.
This space is not only for letters but more often, a political cartoon. With our former cartoonist moving on to bigger and better things, we need an heir to his thrown. It is a space for an artist to show off his or her penmanship and artistic prowess.
Everyone in the office has worked long and hard to put out this first. Our hope is that you take this newspaper as your source for Saint Mary's news and if you feel something should be covered, tell us about it.
We might put in the hours to make sure this paper comes out, but keep in mind that this paper is not for us. It's for you.
