Disneyland is made of magic

There is just something about going to Disneyland that is very exciting, no matter what age one is.

I recently decided that I'm going to Disneyland with some awesome friends for New Year's Eve 2006. We'll be road-tripping it there, using three-day park-hopper passes, and crashing in a hotel suite…aside from cramming the five of us in a small sedan for the trips there and back, I am way excited.

True, I don't like annoying little munchkins (kids who whine, scream, and cry), and true, the rides have slowed down a lot and pretty much suck (that's why I have a park-hopper pass), but I still like Disneyland. It's just so classic. Everything about it not only brings back happy childhood memories, but just being there also feels magical.

Yes, corny, I realize that, but being at Disneyland for me is very magical. Every corner of the park whispers with little oohs and ahhs.

Okay, okay, Disneyland is not made of magic. I've been to the back/practice/equipment area-place-thing behind Toon Town, I've seen the fake scenery, and I've seen the characters without their heads, smoking and using foul language-it's definitely not magical.

However, just being there at night in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle, exhausted, yet still excited, watching the fireworks, having the world spin all around you, and not having a care other than watching the fireworks…that's a pretty cool and surreal feeling.

And when it's time for the park to close, it's always a sad feeling, because you know that the magic is ending. This time, I'm approaching those gates with a three-day pass-that should grant enough magic to hold me over for a while.

I still have two and a half months until then, but I can't wait. I've already started saving up for the trip (on top of saving up for spring semester, of course), and I've started making a list of all the rides I want to go on, a list of all the places to eat, a list of all the things I want to get for myself, and a list of people to get things for-oh dear, I'd better start saving up for that as well.

It's going to be amazing, I can't wait. This is just the magic that I need to look forward to when I have two exams/projects per week, after week, after week for the whole month of October.
