The Lasallian Collegians is a student leadership group affiliated with the Office of Mission. "These student leaders represent various leadership programs in the work of the Office of Mission and Lasallian Collegians, including Recreational Sports, Office of Residence Life, Campus Ministry, CILSA, Program Board, ASSMC Senate, Admissions, and ASSMC Clubs. This is a way to intentionally have a diverse group of students to contribute to and promote the Lasallian Mission on the campus," said Brother Michael Sanderl.
The students involved this year with the Lasallian Collegians are Kristina Captein '09, Nathan Garcia '08, Sara Kendrick '08, Carolyn Morison '08, Jill Nelson '10, Angie Perry '08, Charlie Schnellbacher '09, and Chris Torres '10.
Garcia is involved with four separate student clubs and represents club leadership. Garcia said, "I value Faith in the Presence of God because it gives me comfort, hope and, above all, inspiration to be and do good."
Morison represents Campus Ministry and the Campus Pastoral Team. She's involved in several clubs, including Habitat for Humanity and Best Buddies. "Living out our Lasallian Mission through the phrase 'Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve' is what I've been called to do to its fullest," said Morison.
Nelson represents freshmen from Central Campus and is involved with Gael Force. She said, "Being Lasallian means being conscious of the things around you and caring enough to improve them."
"They really have provided significant leadership with regard to this year's De La Salle Week, as you will see during the week, Sunday, April 22 - Sunday, April 29," said Sanderl. "[They are] a strong voice for the promotion of the Lasallian Mission on campus among our students."
The Lasallian Collegians meet every other week to discuss their work. With each new semester, they meet and choose the top three programs that they'll support and partake in. The programs chosen for this semester are De La Salle Week, Development of the Lasallian Interest Session, and Community Nights.
In addition to meetings and campus involvement, the Lasallian Collegians also attend an annual conference. "They are a hard working group of students who have been instrumental in shaping and defining this new program on campus... they really do contribute to the life and success of our efforts in meaningful ways."
