Softball: The Saint Mary's softball team was in action five times this week in their final home stand of the season. Their first outing came on Wednesday against the dominant Stanford Cardinals. The Gaels were keeping the score close until they gave up six runs in the sixth inning, handing the Gaels an 8-0 loss. Gael starting pitcher, junior Molly Bergeson allowed just two runs and five hits in her four innings on the mound.
The Gaels were in action again on Saturday and Sunday when they took on the Portland State Vikings in two double-headers. After a two-hour delay, the Gaels grabbed both wins in Saturday's outings, stunning the defending PCSC Champion Vikings. Junior Megan Galloway took game one win for the Gaels. Galloway earned the shutout, not allowing any runs in seven innings.
The Gaels' offense and defense were on point in the contest and the 2-0 lead in the first game gave them the momentum they needed to grab another win in the second game of the double-header.
