Oh no, more emo!

Linkin Park has turned emo. On their new album Minutes to Midnight, the typically rap-rock band ventures into a more stripped-down realm. Songs such as "Shadow of the Day" imitate U2, while others, like "No More Sorrow" are more reminiscent of past LP, with crunchy guitars and angry lyrics. After a four-year silence following 2003's Meteora, the band has returned with a new direction, and the result is positive. While some of the songs are a bit mellow compared to past work, the change is welcomed, and Minutes to Midnight presents a band that has reinvented itself for the better.
